Frequently asked questions

Do I pay per employee?
No. The price depends on your company's size band – up to 5, 15, 30, 60 or 150 employees. Within the band, a new colleague costs nothing extra.
Is time tracking really mandatory?
Yes. Following the European Court of Justice ruling of 2019, Germany's Federal Labour Court decided in 2022 that employers in Germany must record the start, end and duration of working time. irot Time covers this in Basis already – including a monthly record to sign.
Do I need modules?
Only if your business needs them: if you write rosters, take Shift planning; if you book hours to job sites, Projects; if your tax adviser handles your payroll, Payroll & DATEV. All modules are unlocked during the 30-day trial.
Do I need special hardware?
No. An off-the-shelf tablet works as a time clock, and a USB card reader is all you need for chip cards. If you want it ready to go, get a fully set-up tablet, mount, reader and cards from the accessories shop.
Can I buy irot Time instead of renting it?
Yes, for running it on your own server: 30 times the monthly price, paid once, for four years of use – no subscription. The rental price includes hosting – whether on our servers in Germany or on your own, the price is the same.
What happens if I cancel?
Without a licence, clocking in and the reports remain available – your recorded hours belong to you. If you cancel a module, the data recorded in it stays readable.
I know this product as gnavo.de – is it the same thing?
Yes. Until September 2026 irot Time ran at gnavo.de; every page now redirects permanently to time.irot.com. Same company, same servers in Germany, same support – only the address now belongs to the irot family.
